Robert has over a decade of experience in designing, implementing, and managing investment policies for individual, corporate, and non-profit clients with Morgan Stanley. He has served on the board of Food for Others for the past 5 years, and serves on the golf tournament and investment committees in addition to his role as board chair

Jeff Marin

Vice Chair

Retired 30 + year employee of Arlington, VA.  Experience in budgeting/finance, facility planning and management, citizen engagement, and customer service.  Served as an adjunct professor at George Mason University. Food rescue volunteer with Food for Others.

Hillary West

Treasurer

CPA, Partner at CST Group, CPAs, PC. Specializes in providing consulting, tax and assurance/financial statement services, including multi-state tax returns, audits, reviews and compilations of closely held businesses.

Jane Schapiro Brown

Secretary

Retired from George Mason University after 17 years working as an Academic Assistant in the Academic Services Dept. of the Athletic Department. Earned a MFA from George Mason University.  A published writer with three books of poetry and a book of non-fiction.  Currently volunteers at Food for Others and The Women’s Center.  Has an ongoing support relationship with Bread for the City and the Jewish Community Center of Northern VA.

Arnoldo Borja

Member

Day laborers site manager and community organizer for 14 years with Legal Aid Justice Center.  Conducts outreach and organizing activities, provides information and access to legal services and Justice for Latino day laborers and families in and around Annandale, VA. Serves as liaison between the workers and local agencies such as law enforcement, churches, social service agencies, and non-profit institutions.

Jahangir Boroumand

Member

Retired since 2019. Trained as an Economist (Ph. D.). Worked at the World Bank for 20 years. Carried out economic analysis as well as managing teams of experts to identify, appraise, and implement development projects. Worked at the School of Business, University of Maryland, for 19 years. Taught courses at the MS and MBA programs, advised students, served as an Academic Director of several Executive MBA cohorts, and participated in management of a multi-disciplinary program.

Leigh Burke

Executive Director of Variety – the Children’s Charity of the National Capital Region. Professional background in development with Reporters Without Borders, Arthur F. Burns Fellowship, Inova Health System, and George Washington University.

Rebecca Chanin

A native of Macon, GA, Rebecca Chanin arrived in Washington, DC in 1985 to attend The George Washington University and has called the metro area home ever since. Professionally, Rebecca’s career is in marketing and communications. In her 25+ year career, she has helped grow well-known brands such as Mobil Oil Corp, AOL, The Washington Post, and most recently, JK Moving Services.

William Daly

A shareholder with the Tysons law firm of Rees Broome, Bill, has done commercial litigation there for the past 32 years. Bill is immediate past president of the Fairfax Law Foundation, general counsel for the Tysons Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Fairfax Bar Association and teaches professionalism for the Virginia State Bar at George Mason University Law School.

Linda Dang

Linda serves as Chief Human Resources Officer for Edgeworth Economics, a leading provider of economic analysis and expert testimony. With over 15 years of experience, Linda has a diverse background in a variety of industries to include private sector, non-profit organizations, government contracting to name a few. 

Maritel Dasco

CPA, Controller at the American Association for Clinical Chemistry. Nonprofit professional with experience in directing accounting and financial management functions, including financial statement reporting and budgeting, of various nonprofit organizations.

Hedy Sadeghein

Member

CPA, VP, and Chief Financial Officer for NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association. Hedy oversees the fiscal functions of the association, collaborates with the board of directors and committee leaders, leads the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting, and ensure the financial health and compliance of the organization. Hedy previously served as a senior audit manager at Johnson Lambert, where she specialized in the non-profit industry.

Matt Salter

Currently serving as Vice President, Chief Growth Officer at Noblis, Inc. Prior experience includes consulting, program and project management, product and platform management, and operations management.

Sarah Scafidi

Director of Systems Resilience at Cadmus, has 16 years of management consulting experience specializing in all hazard risk assessment, preparedness evaluation, and organizational resilience.

Ben Semmes

Certified Financial Planner and Vice President at Morgan Stanley in McLean, VA with over 12 years of experience helping non-profits, small businesses and individual clients with their wealth management and financial planning needs.

Shelly O’Neill Stoneman

Member

Currently serving as the Vice President of Government Relations for BAE Systems, Inc., a global aerospace and defense firm. Previously, served for nearly 15 years in government at the Pentagon, White House, and on Capitol Hill as a national security expert and strategic adviser.

We are always looking for passionate, hard-working individuals to join our Board of Directors. Serving on the Board of Directors is a great way to contribute your time and professional skills to improve our organization. Each year, the Board looks for candidates who have skills in an area that the we need (e.g., accounting, fundraising, technology, food service, human resources, legal, etc).
