Guidelines for Supervisors

All volunteers aged 12–15 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, supervisor (18+), or aide for school-related volunteering or for volunteers with disabilities when needed. Acceptable accompanying adults include:

  • Parents or guardians
  • Case managers or job coaches
  • School aides

Supervision Guidelines

Accompanying adults are expected to:

  • Ensure the youth volunteer is actively supervised at all times (supervisors are not required to participate in volunteer tasks unless they have registered for a shift or choose to assist)
  • Remain focused on supervision — telework, phones, headphones, or other distractions are not permitted
  • Ensure the youth volunteer is safe, on task, and maintaining the integrity of the work being done
  • Stay on site for the entire shift — this is not a drop-off program. The waiver signed upon arrival does not relinquish parental or supervisory responsibility; it acknowledges the volunteer is in a warehouse environment and agrees to follow all standard volunteer guidelines (including eligibility requirements such as no convictions for violent crimes or crimes related to children)
  • Be aware that some volunteers may be court-related, but all such volunteers are thoroughly vetted. Parents or supervisors may be present at all times to ensure comfort and safety.

Volunteer Credit

  • To receive volunteer credit, accompanying adults must have separate accounts and shift registrations
  • Adults without an account must sign a waiver upon arrival to supervise
  • Adults are welcome to sign up to volunteer themselves when their child is older, but each volunteer must have their own account
