Students & Internships
Food for Others welcomes students and interns interested in learning hands-on through volunteer service. Opportunities may include internships, service-learning projects, or other educational support.
For students using x2Vol or MobileServe, please use volunteer@foodforothers.org and any volunteer staff member as the approver.
Internships
- We occasionally offer internships, primarily through partnerships with George Mason University.
- Prospective interns are always welcome to send a resume and relevant project details, along with a cover letter including:
- University or high school supervisor information
- Goals for the experience
- Area of interest
- General availability and timeline
- Submissions can be sent to volunteer@foodforothers.org. Our volunteer staff will review and follow up
Service-Learning Projects
- Students completing service-learning projects can create volunteer accounts and sign up for shifts
- Students may mix and match volunteer roles to meet their required hours
- All service-learning hours must be completed on-site
- Please notify us in advance by email or phone so we can:
- Sign necessary forms
- Help track hours
- Complete mid-semester or end-of-semester evaluations
Letters of Recommendation & Verification
- We do not routinely provide letters of recommendation.
- We can provide an hour verification on letterhead and/or volunteer transcripts as needed.
