We’re so glad you and your family want to volunteer at Food for Others!

Volunteering as a family is an incredible way to bond while also making a difference in your community. The minimum age for volunteering at our warehouse is 12. Children ages 12-16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to volunteer.

While we have an age range requirement to volunteer in some roles at Food for Others, there are still many other ways to get involved.

How Can my Child (under 12) get Involved?

  1. Gleaning: During the summer, you can volunteer to recover produce from local farms. Between July to October, we often have gleaning opportunities at Hollins Farm. This is a great opportunity for you and your family to get outside while giving back. You need to wear closed toed shoes in order to glean.
  2. Run a Food Drive or Assemble Power Packs: Another great way for younger community members to get involved is by running a food drive or assembling Power Packs. Running a drive helps younger volunteers begin to understand the impact of hunger in our community. Donating Power Packs is an especially fitting option for young volunteers as they get the opportunity to pack meals for students who are their age.
