Summertime brings longer days, fun-filled vacations, and embracing the free time in your schedule. However, summer can look very different throughout the community because Hunger Doesn’t Go on Holiday.
Throughout the summer, we often see around a 40% drop in food drive donations. We’ve shared some easy ways to get involved and support Food for Others this summer!
- Donating to Food for Others directly supports our programs and the purchase of food for our pantry, neighborhood sites, Power Packs, and our Community Partners. Individual donations are the largest source of funding at Food for Others. Every donation, no matter the size, contributes to building a better community. Every $4 donated funds a weekend Power Pack for a food insecure child in Fairfax.
- Volunteering provides each of us with the opportunity to both have an impact and see the impact. Volunteers play a critical role in the facilitation of Food for Others programs, many months see 50%+ of the work accomplished at FFO completed by volunteers.
- Signing up for our 5K & Fun Run allows you to support Food for Others while joining a family and community
